About Speaker Tony Davidson…
As a child Tony learnt his trade by competing with his four siblings at ‘Guess the commercial.’ Tony graduated from Manchester Polytechnic with a 1st class BA Hons in Design and Communication Media. He joined BMP in 1985, teaming up with Kim Papworth. They worked on many brands, including Courage, Cadbury beverages, Scottish Amicable and Heinz. The DDB merger gave them an opportunity to work on VW, for which he won a D&AD pencil.
In 1995 they went to Leagas Delaney, where they worked on Adidas, Tanner Krolle, Hyundai, the Guardian and the BBC, and had their Pepe commercial banned. In 1997 they moved to BBH to work on Audi and Lynx. At BBH, they created one of their most admired campaigns: Levi’s ‘Flat Eric’, the soundtrack of which topped the charts in ten countries. In September 2000 they built Wieden + Kennedy London. Their most famous work has been the recent Honda ‘Power of Dreams’ campaign that has won global plaudits, winning two D&AD Black pencils, the Grand Prix at Cannes and Client of the Year 2007.
