Widely recognized as the father of gamification, Rajat Paharia founded Bunchball, the company that launched both the social gaming and gamification industries, in 2005. Since then, he has parlayed his unique understanding of technology and design – along with a preternatural ability to recognize patterns – into the creation of a company whose market refining solutions have helped engage customers and motivate employees at hundreds of companies, including Ford, MaFel, Adobe, Bravo, Cisco, Coca Cola, SAP and Kimberly Clark.

Before founding Bunchball, Rajat was an Interaction Designer and then Practice Lead at world–renowned innovation and design firm IDEO, where he did everything from human factors, interaction design and software prototyping to organizational change, innovation training, and business strategy for clients ranging from startups to multinationals. His work at IDEO spanned industries including enterprise telecommunication, highvolume consumer goods, medical, wireless data services, law enforcement, connected media devices, aerospace and automotive.
Prior to IDEO, Rajat worked at companies including Philips Consumer Electronics, IBM Research and ViewStar. Rajat earned a master’s degree in Computer Science (with a focus on Human Interaction) from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California Berkeley. Rajat is the also the author of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal best seller Loyalty 3.0 How to Revolutionize Customer and Employee Engagement with Big Data and Gamification.
