Dr. Michael Lerner is president and co-founder of a health and environmental research institute in California and a center for healing and the arts in Washington D.C. A Harvard and Yale-trained political scientist, Dr. Lerner left a promising academic career to found an institute that would serve at-risk children, help adults with environmentally related health problems and promote public education about environmental health. He is also the co-founder of cancer help programs which provide week-long retreats for people with cancer.
Michael Lerner is the author of Choices in Healing: Integrating the Best of Conventional and Complementary Approaches to Cancer, as well as numerous articles and essays.
Dr. Michael Lerner is a member of the CEO Advisory Board of the American Cancer Society. He was principle consultant to the Office of Technology Assessment of the U.S. Congress for its study Unconventional Cancer Treatments.

Michael Lerner is a co-founder of the Collaborative on Health and the Environment, an international partnership for people interested in or working at the interface between the environment and human health. Dr. Lerner’s central interest is the interface between personal and planetary healing. He asks what we can learn from healing ourselves that applies to healing our communities, our countries, and the earth.
Michael Lerner also asks what we can learn from the grave crisis in the health of the earth that may help us in our own healing. Dr. Lerner’s most recent project explores the interface between ecology, culture and the inner life. Contributors include Ram Dass, Rachel Naomi Remen, Parker Palmer, Dean Radin and other pioneers of personal and environmental health.
