Jimmy Spithill

Jimmy Spithill is an Australian yachtsman, born and raised in Sydney, Austalia. He got his start in the sport in 1998 when he earned a third place finish at the SydneyHobart and won the Kenwood Cup as a junior. In 2003 and 2004 he won back-toback Nations Cup titles and then finished second in the 2003 Match Race World. Two years later he’d top that performance by winning the Match Race World Championship in 2005. In 2010 he became the youngest yachtsman to ever capture the America’s Cup while serving as the skipper and helmsman for BMW Oracle Racing. Currently he serves in that same role on Oracle Team USA’s two AC72’s 17 Teams and Oracle’s Team USA 17. Spithill’s knowledge of the dynamics of racing and experience on the international circuit has earned him a reputation as one of the most respected yachtsman in the world.
