Andre Iguodala is an NBA basketball player for the 3-time NBA Champions, the Golden State Warriors. Drafted into the NBA in 2004, Andre has made his mark as one of the league’s premier players. In addition to his numerous basketball achievements, Andre has found success in the business world with entrepreneurial ventures in technology and e-commerce. As one of Golden State’s key players, Andre has played a leading role in each of the team’s championship seasons. During the 2017 championship run, he further established his legacy as one of the NBA’s premier players. In 2015 Andre received the NBA Finals’ Most Valuable Player Award. He was an NBA All-Star in 2012 and has been named to the NBA All-Defensive Team twice. Andre was also a member of the United States National Team at the 2010 FIBA World Championship and 2012 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal both times. Andre Iguodala was named the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA)’s First Vice President in 2019.
Off the court, Andre is known for his savvy business instincts and has been at the forefront of navigating the worlds of venture capital and technology in the Bay Area. Since joining the Warriors in 2013, Andre has invested in over 40 companies through F9 Strategies, including GOAT, Zoom, HIMS, Lime, Thrive Global, AllBirds, Casper, STANCE, and Carta.
In 2017 he partnered with Bloomberg on the creation of The Players Technology Summit, which convenes top executives and leaders in the technology, venture capital, and sports communities to exchange ideas and share expertise in an educational and empowering forum.
Iguodala became a member of the Board of Directors for Jumia Technologies (NYSE: JMIA) in 2019. Jumia, a leading e-commerce platform, is widely considered the “Amazon of Africa” and had a successful billion-dollar IPO in April 2019.
Andre’s memoir, The Sixth Man, was released by Penguin Random House in June 2019. The book is “a deeply personal look at Iguodala’s life growing up in Springfield, Ill., with his single mother and brother, who he says taught him how to be a defender early on. In reflective, conversational prose, Iguodala recounts his early awareness of segregation and racism, the strength and influence of the strong women in his life (and later, coaches), and his gradual realization of how to best harness his intelligence, ambition, and drive.”
Andre Iguodala attended the University of Arizona before declaring for the 2004 NBA Draft following his sophomore year. He and his wife and two children live in California.
