Honoring International Women’s Day with Female Keynote Speakers!
In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8th, we asked our team at BigSpeak to share who their most inspiring woman leader is and why. Here’s what they had to say!
Barrett Cordero, President – “Sylvia Acevedo is an inspiring figure for International Women’s Day because she broke barriers as a NASA engineer, CEO of the Girl Scouts, and advocate for girls in STEM. She overcame challenges as a woman in male-dominated fields, proving that education and perseverance create opportunities. Her leadership empowered young girls to pursue STEM careers, making her a role model for gender equality and women’s achievement.”
Julie Whalen, VP & Strategic Account Advisor – “Cassandra Worthy—her energy is contagious, and she is one of the most authentic people out there. Carla Harris—just simply super impressive. I don’t often get starstruck, but I am starstruck by Carla Harris. Molly Fletcher—super down-to-earth and real. Great listener, engaged and engaging.”
Max Peck, Sales Associate & Assistant to EVP – “Chaunté Lowe is incredible not just because of her athletic achievements but because of her unwavering dedication to doing the right thing, no matter the outcome. Her journey is defined by resilience—whether it was pushing through the toughest moments in competition or her battle with breast cancer. She refused to let circumstances dictate her path, standing firm in her principles even when the road ahead was uncertain. That level of integrity, paired with the strength to rise above every obstacle, makes her someone to emulate.”
Eleanor Linton, Senior Events Specialist – “Heather McGowan! She’s highly intelligent, super connected, and uses her platform to elevate others and address topics we NEED to be thinking about. She’s had a t-shirt series to catalyze conversations, and every time she posts, it reminds me to be more open-minded, curious, and engage with kindness. More of this energy, please!”
Erin Flynn, Senior Account Associate – “Sara Blakely is an inspiring person to me because creating a billion-dollar company was just the beginning. She leveraged her entrepreneurial success to become a strong advocate for women, lifting them up through mentorship, philanthropy, and advocacy while creating opportunities for other women to thrive. I love how she uses her platform.”
Mikaela Harn, Strategic Account Associate & Assistant to President – “Mel Robbins! I have been a huge fan of hers since my early days at BigSpeak. She approaches tough topics in a relatable way while also providing key insights and values that are easy to understand.”
Ken Sterling, EVP of Talent & Business Affairs – “Molly Bloom built a high-stakes poker empire, faced federal charges, and reinvented herself as a best-selling author and speaker. From Olympic athlete to legal defendant, she turned challenges into growth. In a male-dominated world, she negotiated deals and maintained control under pressure. Despite legal pressure, she upheld her clients’ trust with ethical leadership. As an entrepreneur, she scaled her poker business using key skills. Through her book and movie, she advocates for women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and perseverance. A master of influence and negotiation, Molly captivates audiences with lessons on ambition, failure, and resilience.”
Tracy Powell, Senior Events Specialist – “April Rinne – I am inspired by her message on the “flux mindset” and the importance of embracing change as an opportunity. She has an incredible way of helping people shift their perspective on uncertainty, encouraging them to see it as a chance for growth rather than a setback. What makes her even more impactful is how hard she works to learn about her audience, connecting with them on a deeper level and making her message truly relatable.”
