David Wise is the most decorated halfpipe skier of all time. He has represented the United States in the past three Winter Olympic Games and brought home two Gold and one Silver medal in the sport of Freeski Halfpipe. He also has 5 X Games Gold Medals to his name.
During the finals at the 2018 Pyeong Chang Winter Olympics Wise had the “most epic” competitive moment of his career when he managed to land the best run of his life and take home his second Olympic Gold Medal in spite of the fact that he had sustained binding malfunctions on his previous two out of three attempts.
David is unique in the action sports world because he is a family man and has been for the most successful portions of his career. In a fast paced industry where athletes send it hard on the slopes during the day time and party hard at night, Wise has always been grounded. He largely contributes his success and ability to perform well under pressure to his family and the fact that he defines himself as a husband and father first, and an athlete second.
Wise’s reliability as a speaker is far reaching. Not everyone can relate to flying through the air above a 22’ tall halfpipe made of icy snow, but everyone can relate to facing adversity, criticism and hardship in trying to achieve their goals. Over an 18 year career as a professional skier, David has faced almost every type of adversity: injury, financial hardship, death of family members and friends, failed business ventures, etc. He dedicates himself to learning from the struggle and using those lessons to improve rather than wallow in bitterness. Wise has an athlete mentorship program called Mental Giants where he mentors up and coming athletes and shares his tips and tactics for performing well under pressure.
Wise is a part owner of an apparel company called Akova. He is an avid outdoorsman and he resides in Verdi, Nevada with his wife Alexandra and their two children Nayeli and Malachi.
