Build Good Habits This Year with Jia Jiang’s One Action Goal
As 2024 gave way to 2025, millions upon millions of people made New Year’s resolutions. A Pew research Center survey shows that half of American adults aged 18-29 and a third aged 30-49 start the year with at least one resolution, with most of them being related to health, finance, and professional success. Research also shows that by the end of this month, at least a fifth of these people will have completely abandoned their goals, and even more will fall off as the year progresses.
Resolutions don’t have to be so difficult to hold to, though, and just a little reframing of the way one views their goals can set them up for a greater shot at success.
More familiar with failure and rejection than most, entrepreneur, author and top-booked keynote speaker Jia Jiang is probably best known for his viral TED Talk, 100 Days of Rejection. As the creator of Rejection Therapy, Jia has designed a breakthrough system that helps others become rejection proof and build resilience through repeated rejections.
This system can extend to habit-building as much as other goals. The One Action Goal is Jia’s framework for making objectives more attainable, simplifying the path to success by relentlessly focusing on one thing at a time. Drawing from his upcoming book, The Art of Achieving Ambitious Things (Simon & Schuster, May 2026), Jia explains methods for “fail-proofing” one’s environment and developing a stronger ability to focus in a manner that puts success within anyone’s reach.
This method’s strong focus on incremental and focused growth makes it ideal for the creation of new, positive habits that can add up to larger goals; say, for example, taking a twenty minute walk each day in turn tying into a larger goal of improved heart health.
