“Hope You Are Well” Is an Overrated Email Intro
BigSpeak EVP Ken Sterling argues that we should all strike the phrase “hope you are well” from our lexicons, at least when it comes to emailing.
With so much time already spent in email inboxes, why keep opening communications with something so trite and insincere? Chances are the person on the other end of the message has already received several communiques that start exactly the same way, and a lack of originality means your email won’t stand out. It might even go straight to the trash bin due to its lack of ability to grab the readers’ attention.
Sterling also argues that this phrase is unprofessional and impersonal, further reasons to consider switching out this intro for almost anything else. Check out the full article at Forbes for an in-depth explanation of Ken’s reasoning.
