Putting the "Mock" back in Democracy, The Capitol Steps are the only group in America that attempts to be funnier than Congress. The Capitol Steps are a troupe of former congressional staffers who travel the country satirizing the very people that once employed them. And although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together, The Capitol Steps performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.
Over the past 20 years, The Capitol Steps have performed over 5,000 engagements in forty-eight states and have recorded over two-dozen albums, including their latest, Campaign and Suffering. The Capitol Steps, which now comprises over 30 cast members, five of whom are on stage for any one show, perform over 500 shows a year all over the country in addition to appearing on numerous television shows. The Capitol Steps have been featured on NBC, ABC, CBS and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their Politics Takes a Holiday radio specials. The Capitol Steps have even performed for the very targets they satirize, including four Presidents.
